Meet 'n' Greet - Kristen
I went to the TJMaxx Tour of Gymnastic Champions Nov. 19th in NJ at the Continental Airlines Arena. It was incredible. I was very excited to see all of the gymnasts. The tour was awesome. In my opinion they guys group routines were the highlight, and certainly got the most screams...and of course Blaine Wilson was one of the most popular if not the most. The Hamms were incredible, and you could tell that they were definitely on top of their training. In fact on of them(I believe it was Paul) did a rings routine and I thought I could of been watching Blaine Wilson because he had great strength moves particularly the Maltese he did. John Roethlisberger was great as always and I though one of the highlights was the group routine when John was a coachish figure, his acting was great as well. Sean Townsend was great and showed much more personality and spirit than we are used to seeing in meets. Steve McCain was wonderful as well and you could tell he was taking every minute in and was enjoying it. They guys were sticking routines left and right with fist pumps at the end of each one as well. You could see they were absorbing the energy the audience was giving off.
As for the girls, rhythmic, and trampolinists they were great as well. The girls had a bunch of falls on their dismounts not that it mattered that much, and Atler Korkina had interesting spills on the floor which made everyone gasp, but we still love them all:O) One of my favorites of the night was the floor routine done too Ricky Martin, all of the gymnasts were into it and it was as cute as can be. And last but not least Alexei Nemov. I'm not the biggest Alexei Nemov fan but my opinion has changed a bit after seeing him there. On of my favorites if not my favorite individual routines was Alexei's high bar routine to "I'm Too Sexy." He was not only incredible gymnasticly (obviously, he won the most medals in Sydney by any individual), but I think he put a smile on everyone's face in that arena. He was extremely charismatic and funny which I don't think comes across on a TV screen. Also to quickly mention things that don't come across the TV screen is the gorgeous strawberry blonde hair that the Hamm Twins have;O)
If you have any chance to go to the tour it is definitely worth the money, and if I could go again I would. I also went to the '97 John Hancock Tour and in comparison to that show I would not say that it is better or worst. I would say it is just different, and I enjoyed both immensely.
